Invitation

Dear Friends,

Season's greetings.

We cordially invite you to the 28th AIIMS Annual Microneurosurgery Workshop, scheduled for 11th to 14th February 2026.

For over two decades, this globally renowned workshop has been an unparalleled platform for surgical education and intellectual exchange. It offers attendees a unique, immersive opportunity to observe master surgeons, gaining invaluable insight into their surgical philosophy, decision-making, anatomical approaches, and meticulous techniques—nuances essential for elevating neurosurgical practice, often beyond what is found in textbooks. The event also fosters peer-to-peer camaraderie.

This year promises a synergistic blend of education, cutting-edge innovation, and collaborative spirit, with a meticulously curated program covering the comprehensive spectrum of current neurosurgical challenges and advancements.

The unique and highly anticipated features of the 28th edition include:

Comprehensive Pre-Conference Workshops (11th February 2026):
These hands-on sessions offer intensive, focused learning and skill refinement for modern neurosurgery:
Endoscopic Skull Base Workshop: A deep-dive into the latest endoscopic skull base techniques, focusing on dissection, corridors, and instrumentation.
Microanastomosis Workshop: An intensive, skill-based workshop for mastering microvascular anastomosis, a core cerebrovascular skill, with individualized instruction.
Surgical Planning Workshop: Amalgamation of Anatomy with Technology: A forward-looking session integrating surgical anatomy, advanced imaging, neuronavigation, augmented reality, and personalized data to optimize preoperative planning and execution.
Deferred Live and Recorded Surgeries: (12-14, February 2026)
Our 'Deferred Live' format provides real-time surgical instruction on recent, complex cases performed by master surgeons, free from live theatre pressure. Sessions feature step-by-step commentary, immediate pause-and-discuss segments, and in-depth analysis of critical steps, complications, and alternative strategies. This offers unmatched detail and interactivity compared to traditional broadcasts.

3. The Prestigious 36th Sarveshwari Memorial Oration: (12th February 2026)

A highlight of the workshop, this esteemed oration will be delivered by a globally recognized figure in neurosurgery, honoring the legacy of Sarveshwari Memorial and providing profound insights into the past, present, and future trajectory of the specialty.

4. 6th Prof. A K Banerjee oration: (13, February 2026)

To be delivered by Prof. Yuri Pilipenko, an expert cerebrovascular surgeon from the Burdenko Institute, Moscow, Russia

Workshop History

Department of Neurosurgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences started in March 1965, with only two faculty members and a few beds. However, with dedicated efforts and sincerity of Prof. P.N. Tandon and Prof. A.K. Banerji, M.Ch training program could be initiated in 1967, when Dr. Brahm Prakash joined as M.Ch. student. In the last 52 years, Department has made a long journey in training over 175 neurosurgeons. Our Department has been at the forefront in imparting knowledge on new technical skills and improving skills of neurosurgeons by organizing regular cadaver and live surgery workshops. Every year eminent neurosurgeons from India and abroad join us in this academic exercise.

At present, Department of neurosurgery organizes two theme-based workshops. February workshop is focused on surgical procedures of Brain while the Oct-November workshop focuses on spine surgery.
